MTN Syria welcomes 2010 FIFA World Cup Fans at MTN Fan Parks Daily

Damascus 17 June 2010: MTN Syria inaugurated its MTN Fan Parks to display 2010 FIFA World Cup matches for free, on Friday 11th of June 2010, where MTN transformed group of locations in Damascus, Homs, Latakia and Aleppo into MTN Fan Parks to enable football fans to watch 2010 FIFA World Cup in an interactive manner that is the first of its kind in Syria.

Thousands of 2010 FIFA World Cup fans witnessed the opening ceremony that started with a stunning musical concert of “Kelna Sawa” band, followed by fireworks to announce the start of MTN Fan Parks activities and displaying 2010 FIFA world Cup matches.

MTN Fan Park witnesses a unique social status for the first time in Syria where friends and families come together to watch the games and cheer their favorite teams displayed daily via MTN giant screens for free. MTN Fan Parks are located in excellent locations all over Syria and accommodates lots of 2010 FIFA World Cup fans. This initiatives comes in line with MTN Group official sponsorship of2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa

Miss. Nour Al Khatib, MTN’s Communication Manager and responsible for MTN’s Fan Parks Project, said: “We are pleased to see thousands joining us to inaugurate  MTN Fan Parks  and to enjoy an evening  full of excitement watching 2010 FIFA World Cup First game on our giant screens. We are glad to welcome all football fans to live the excitement daily in our MTN Fan Parks to watch the matches”.

She Added: “I would like to thank all Syrian governorates, especially Damascus Governorate, Aleppo Governorate, Homs Governorate and Latakia Governorate, for their support and cooperation to make football fans’ dream and ours comes true by establishing MTN Fan Parks for 2010 FIFA World Cup”.

MTN Syria welcomes all football fans at its Fan Parks, in Damascus at the Damascus old fair ground, Al Jundi Al Majhoul Square, Al Jahez Park, Al Tala’ae Park, Al Zahera park and Skiland. The Fan parks are located also at Sa’ad Alla Al Jabery, Aleppo Castle and Shahba mall. Football fans in Homs can enjoy watching the matches at Al Mahata Square while fans in Latakia can watch the free matches through MTN huge screens in Al Awqaf square.
